Independent Contractor vs. Employee
An independent contractor is a natural person, business, or corporation that provides goods or services to another entity under terms specified in a contract or within a verbal agreement.
An employee is a person employed for wages or salary, especially at nonexecutive level.
An example of an employee would be someone you hire and have a detailed lay out of their daily duties and how you would want the work completed.
An example of an independent contractor would be a company you hire to paint your new office, the contractor would have the say into how to complete the job but as the payer you have the right to say what color and what walls.
Most Employers will have an employee on a W-2 form and Independent Contractors on a 1099.
